MRA International Honor Guard
You are here MRA Home / MRA International Honor Guard

The Honor Guard is a non-budgeted, charitable service of the MRA. All members of the Honor Guard volunteer their time and pay their own way for this duty, and are members of an MRA unit in the United States, Canada, or other country. Standard Honor Guard and Color Guard protocols are observed ("Lead With Your Left" by Jay Bishop), with some variations.
Our purpose is
- To honor the people, both rescuers and families, and the history of the Mountain Rescue Association, including at each annual conference in June, and memorials and funerals;
- To honor the public safety community on special occasions, memorials and funerals, including law enforcement, fire service, other SAR brothers and sisters, and climbers and mountaineers who rescue others;
- To promote mountain rescue.
